“VIRGIL WAS HERE”
Promotional Poster Series
PROJECT BRIEF
This Wild Posting has been designed for the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. It advertises a conceptualized exhibition combining the MCA Chi- cago’s Virgil Abloh Figures of Speech exhibition on the (then) current life’s work of the designer and the Louis Vuitton Maison Homme SS22 show, Virgil was Here, a memorial tributing the passing of the designer. Both events were massive nods to Abloh’s breadth of work, accomplishments, and innovations, and the culmination of the two serves as the ultimate celebration of all things Virgil Abloh.
The finished design ties in Louis Vuitton imagery from the Virgil was Here event and logo imagery of his brand Off-White. Incorporating minimal text, the date, location, and title, are emphasized in bold type mirroring the design style of the featured designer. The quotation marks serve as a tribute to Abloh’s fashion designs where they are frequently recognized.
Overall, the series of posters advertise the event in a bright and loud style that speaks to the works featured in the event.
